PA Dealers and Car Owners Salute Buick

Your PA dealers want to bring your attention to a recent article about the love that many people have for Buick vehicles. This particular story is about a man in South Hutchinson, Kansas, who watched how his dad took care of old Buick cars like they were his baby.

Terry Weigand watched as his dad fixed and restored a beautiful 1916 Buick touring car in 1963. As he watched, he had a moment that clicked. All of a sudden, he became a “car guy.” He enjoyed working on the 1916 Buick with his father. As a result, his father passed it down to him. He still owns the car to this day, but he also owns several other Buicks – one from 1922 and another from 1920.

“I’m a purist. I like them to be original,” Weigand said. His 1920 Buick has fewer than 5,000 miles on it. Before he purchased it, it sat in the basement of the Buick dealer for more than six decades because someone ordered it and died before delivery. Weigand still has all of the original documents on the vehicle as well as the original paint job. Because of his old and original Buicks, General Motors recently invited him and his wife to celebrate the automaker’s 100th anniversary in Flint, Michigan.

See what you can do with some patience and some TLC?

Talk Like a Pirate Today at Your Buick Auto Dealers

If you visit your local Buick auto dealers today, have a little fun by talking like a pirate. Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day and with the popularity of pirates in recent years, you might notice some people celebrating it in full effect. Here are some things to keep in mind to talk like a pirate and understand others who do:

• Use the word “Ahoy!” when somebody approaches you.
• Enthusiastically say “Arrr!” when something makes you happy or when you agree with someone wholeheartedly.
• Speak with a raspy voice all day long, almost like you’ve been gargling with broken glass all morning.
• Learn the lingo and use it. Some words that pirates use in everyday language include “beauty” (when addressing a beautiful lady), “avast” (Wow! Check that out!), and “grog” (an alcoholic drink other than beer).
• If someone refers to you as a “lubber” today, it’s not necessarily an insult. In “pirate speak,” it actually means “land lover,” or a person that does not like going out on the sea.

Give it a try and see how much fun it can be. Your local Buick dealer might even join in if they know what you’re doing. For more information, visit this website that tells you more about the day, why we celebrate it and some other pirate-related games.

PA Dealers Warn about These Scams that Target Seniors

This story was reported in Fort Collins, Colorado, but your PA dealers want you to look out for these types of scams regardless of where you live.

Two young men in Fort Collins scammed several senior citizens into paying him for car repairs that they never performed. All of the victims so far were at least 80 years old and they have scammed them for thousands of dollars. One time, the thugs were able to scam about $2,500 out of one elderly person. The incident with the lowest was reported at about $1,600. In each incident, however, the young men approached the older person about a “problem he noticed” on their car. One person would then offer to fix it while the other took the elderly person to the ATM.

In one incident, the two men approached a lady in a Home Depot parking lot. They told her that her back wheel was wobbly and they would fix it for a fee. “I don’t know anything about the wheels on a car, so I said ‘OK, I don’t know,” said the elderly lady who declined to give her name. “I knew when I was driving off, I’d been taken. I felt violated.”

If this happens to you, don’t fall for it. Instead, if you think there is something wrong with your car, take it to a trusted mechanic at your local Buick dealer. They will be happy to fix the problem at a fair and honest price.

Why You Should Get an Extended Warranty for Buick Used Cars

Even though Buick makes a quality vehicle that lasts for years and years, there’s nothing wrong with getting an extended warranty when buying Buick used cars. Many Buick used cars still run like new. But as any driver knows, the unexpected can hit at the worst possible time. That’s where an extended warranty can help. Here are three reasons why you should consider an extended warranty when purchasing used Buick.

Roadside Assistance
Did you know many used car warranties offer roadside assistance services? It’s true. So if something breaks down, you can get a tow truck with a simple phone call. If it’s something minor, they might even be able to get you back on the road without towing the car.

Warranty Coverage
Have you ever had to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to fix a car that broke down? I recently had to do that. With every hundred dollar bill I laid on the mechanic’s desk, I wished I had purchased an extended warranty. Mine wasn’t a used Buick, but extended warranties for Buick used cars still offers coverage for many things that you won’t have to pay for.

Peace of Mind
Knowing that repairs and roadside assistance is available to you simply offers a peace of mind that you can only experience with an extended warranty.

Visit your local Buick dealer today and ask about extended warranties for their Buick used cars. You’ll be glad you did.

PA Dealers Salute Auto Mechanics

Your PA dealers want to send a special salute to the forgotten heroes of car maintenance: The auto mechanic. These days, there are a lot of negative things said about these “doctors of the engine.” But in all reality, auto mechanics are the lifeblood of vehicle maintenance and repairs. Without them, we’d simply have to junk our cars every time something went wrong with them.

An article in a local Philadelphia publication praised auto mechanics on Labor Day. It was an homage to the people who fix our cars. And while auto manufacturing jobs are shipped overseas and outsourced to cheaper places, the mechanic’s job is too important and immediate to ever leave the United States. As such, they join the ranks of nurses, day car personnel, emergency workers and others who will always be needed right here in our hometowns.
The article goes on to say, however, that mechanics are different. They “toil in the off-limits back shops, where grease and gasoline permeate their skin, engine blades bloody their fingers, and temperatures are often stifling.” Combined with a slew of customers who think they are getting ripped off every time they take their car in for service and mechanics may have one of the toughest jobs in the United States.

So the next time you’re getting an oil change or other service at you local Buick dealer or PA dealers, give thanks to the guy working on your car. It’s a thankless job, but somebody has to do it.

Buick Auto Dealers See New Invicta as Cross-Generational

If you haven’t seen the new Invicta, there’s not better time to see one at your local Buick auto dealers. Many of the people “in the know” are saying this is going to be a car that people of all ages are going to enjoy.

One dealer in Michigan – Ryan LaFontaine – said the Buick Invicta could be the vehicle that puts GM over the top. With its sports car image and luxurious features, the Invicta will give its foreign competition a run for its money. He went on to say that it “looks good enough to be a Cadillac,” according to this article.

LaFontaine went on to say that this new Buick isn’t “your typical Buick that’s geared around the older generation. It really appeals to all demographics and all age groups.” He also said that it appeals to both men and women alike.

This Buick auto dealer’s facility recently completed a $15-million building in Highland Township. At the grand opening, General Motors unveiled the new Buick Invicta for the first time in North America.

Is it possible for a single vehicle to have such a widespread appeal? From what I’ve seen so far, I think so. Unfortunately, they will not be available to the public until fall of 2009. Until then, visit your local Buick dealer and get more information about this exciting new model.

Car Shopping Tips for Buying Buick Used Cars

Buying one of the many Buick used cars off the lot at your local Buick dealer is a fun and exciting experience. Buick used cars are typically quality cars that have had few owners. Buick owners also tend to take care of their cars because of their style and the demographic to which they appeal. But it never hurts to know a few tips before going to the car lot to find a car that fits your needs.

Know your budget before shopping. As with any purchase, know how much you can afford to spend before buying something. If you don’t know your budget, you may spend way too much and be stuck with something that you can’t afford.

Look at the total cost. It might seem like it makes more sense to look at your monthly payments on the car, but look at how much you’re going to pay in the long run. Paying $250 a month for three years might be better than paying $100 a month for five years depending on interest rates and other fees.

Don’t be desperate. The more you love a car, the more you’re willing to pay for it. Don’t let emotions rule your car buying decision. Take a step back and evaluate the reason for buying a car before actually signing on the bottom line.

PA Dealers Peek at the New 2010 LaCrosse

If you’re looking forward to Buick’s new 2010 LaCrosse, your PA dealers want to offer you a peek of what to expect. So far, the details are scarce and GM hasn’t released any official photos or information about it, but some auto enthusiasts have captured some photos of engineers taking the new model for a road test.

In the photos that the auto spies were able to get, the grille of the 2010 LaCrosse is covered fairly well so we can’t really see what how it looks. Experts are expecting some features on the new model to be the same, though. Some of those include front-wheel drive and a V6 engine. It might even have more power than the current model.

More details will be unveiled when General Motors unveils the 2010 Buick LaCrosse at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Your PA dealers will keep a close eye on the developments as soon as there is more to know about the upcoming model. Until then, why not visit your local Buick dealer and see what models are available for you today? There is a huge selection of vehicles ready to meet your needs.
